HOMECOMING 2008

WHS halls have been buzzing this week as the excitement of homecoming fills the air. The creativity of our students constantly amazes me in their floats, dress up days, and spirit ideas. Monday saw students come to school in their PJ’s, while Tuesday we dressed tacky. I, of course wore my Clemson outfit because there is nothing tackier than orange. The best day was Wednesday – duct tape day! When student government came up with this idea, I was a bit skeptical. The students really outdid themselves. One student made a duct tape dress and duct tape shoes, while our student body president came dressed in a duct tape jacket. I was amazed at the amount of student participation. Thursday brought us class color days – white for freshmen, grey for sophomores, black for juniors and, of course, purple for our seniors. We will top it off on Friday with formal dress up day for school and the big game against the Travelers Rest devil dogs.
Building floats on the Main street square by Arby’s has always been a big part of our homecoming celebrations. Students, parents, and teachers work together, as each class tries to top the other in this competition. The theme this year was natural disasters and the student’s creative ideas were wonderful. I was really impressed by the freshman class float. They are the new kids but came together and built a great float. We will pull the floats in our annual homecoming parade on Thursday at 4:00.
GO RAZORBACKS!
